Merrel Moab Mids

Merrel Moab Mids - 02/13/22 05:07 PM

I've been wearing these for more than 2 decades I believe. They used to be made in Vietnam but now I see they are made in China. That being the case I am looking for a replacement. Anybody wear these and find something else they liked as well or better?

PS: I know they are made in China now, despite everything on the web, because I ordered a pair and they say "Made in China" on them. The wrong size was delivered so they went back and I am looking for something else.

Good luck EDP most everything you buy these days is garbage including USA,

I switched from Merrel to Keen and have beed happy. In my mind the Keens are a fuzz more heavy, but also more durable than the Merrels.

I find the OBOZ a better fit for my feet and they are quite durable.
Cool name, too. LOL. Made in Vietnam.

Those "hiking boots" look like sneakers with boot laces to me

Which is one of the reasons I like them. Light and comfortable.

I love them but they don't last.

Sneakers is exactly what I wear them as. To me, they are not hiking boots. Not even close with my weak ankles.

I wear mine as tennis shoes also. If you are hiking long distance( say 2200 miles) over rocks, logs, wading thru streams and swamps you would want a light shoe that will dry fast. most hikers have switched to trail runner which are tennis shoe with deep traction lugs.
Just saying.:)

I don’t know where they are made but New Balance makes a boot like that. They were comfortable but I didn’t think they lasted long enough. 2 years at best .

I wore Merrell as a daily shoe for many years then something happened to them, a guy I worked with recommended Keen. I've been wearing Keens since, I wear them everyday and can get a couple of years out of them before they break down but when they break down they break down. I'm really hard on shoes..

I recently switched from Keens to Merrels. I loved the Keens for their out-of-the-box comfort and they actually were waterproof.

I had three pair and had the soles separate on all three. For what they cost they could afford to use a better glue. Keen has been aware of the problem for years but refuses to address it.

I switched to Merrels. They are not waterproof and are as comfortable but the dang soles stay on. Oh and they cost 30-40% less than the Keens.

I have lived in Merrills and have lived in Keens.
Keens more comfy and last longer and they are waterproof.
The Merrill sole stays on.
