According to some gay people I know, it's absolutely a choice. Knew one girl that was a lesbian for years and then one day decided she was going to be straight and has been ever since. Married with several kids now. Always dressed like a man, even wearing a neck tie at work instead of a scarf that the women wore that worked there.

So at least some people make a conscious choice to be gay and/or transgender.

I'm not ruling out that some people might have some wires crossed in their mind. Like Savell pointed out, that's what pedophiles claim. Maybe it's true. Your probably correct about not mocking the individual but I don't believe they are all born that way. But as with other sins they can choice to act on it. Yeah, that's Columbia, Missouri though; a liberal college town, MU. Look at a political map and there is a blue island around Columbia/Jefferson City, St. Louis, and Kansas City from one end of the Missouri River to the other. The rest of the state is red. Down here in SW Missouri it's dark red.

Interesting fact, during the Civil War, most secessionists in the state were strung up and down the Missouri River. The same area that now has the blue islands.

That is interesting, seeing as most other secessionist states are solidly red nowadays.
