Sneaky Snake! I remember riding in the back of mom's big Oldsmobile listening to Tom T Hall on the 8 track. No car seat, no seat belt, just hugging the back of the drivers seat.

My first live music event I attended was at the Josephine County fair in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1975. Taking the stage that summer evening playing to a packed grand stand was Tom T Hall, it was Awesome!!!

I can testify that at one time "Old T" liked his beer.
Back in about 1975, a friend of mine that had an annual cattle sale at his Brangus ranch out in far west Texas and always threw a big party, contacted Tom T to play for his big party. T was hired and about a week before the event contacted Claytie and said he was tired and run down and could he come on out to the ranch and rest up. He went on out and rested up.
The band was set up to play on an old horse drawn wagon. Well old T got into the suds that night and when he got up on the wagon to sing he did the d-wobbles and took a nose dive off the wagon. We carried him to the bunk house and put him to bed. He never sang a song. Some honky tonk singer out of Alpine did the singing that night.
When T woke up the next morning he said "well, I guess you ain't gonna pay me". Claytie said heck no I ain't and I am going to charge you for staying out here for a week and eating my groceries.
