Insect ID ?

Is this an off color June bug or something different. I lean towards something different the body is a bit bigger than I'd expect... opinions?

Plenty of them down here. Mostly a good bit darker. Especially the ones under the bug zapper.

Albino Jap beetle maybe? Seems like everything is in place but the color. Maybe at this time in history it's a racist Jap beetle laugh

The front feet look like it is in the Beetle Family Scarabaeidae.
dung beetles and they use those front claws to dig and cut, cant make out the antennae
it is not a invasive as some have indicated

Found it! Goldsmith beetle. (+1 wetdog)

Also known as the gold bug. (+1 mole)

Family: Scarabaeidae (+1 northof50)

Taste: bitter (-1 Moosetrot)

One of the famous collectors was catching some beetles and when his hands were full put one in this teeth and lips to hold it;
hence forth we have the blister beetle tribe after his lips were swollen up;

This brings to mind something I learned as a kid...

The easiest way to tell the difference between a beetle and a cricket... The beetles have long hair. grin

That is definitely one of the 350,000 spieces of beetles. Not joking, that's literally how many there are.
