The book that helped me the most to understand the market are not on most peoples list, but have made me money

1) Confessions of a Wall Street Addict Jim Cramer
2) Tipping Point Malcom Gladwell
3) BLINK Malcom Gladwell
4) The Black Swan NASSIM Nicholas Taleb

What would be of most value would be a subscription to Investors Business Dailey which is far better than the WALSTREET Journal or Barrons.

Most Warren Buffet books are good.

these books will teach more about market psychology and why the market goes up and down, all other books are going explain fundamentals of what the mechanics and terminology that define the market. which you can learn by googling them

Understand that the market for the most part is fixed by big money: but if you learn the rules of the game a small agile investor can make money as the big guys have alot of rules required to move around large amount of funds.

good luck
