Oh no! Had many a great conversation with Mr Wolf about the beaver and castor market. Godspeed sir and may be with your beloved wife again.

I once had a package of castor go to a post office 60 miles away from Evansville. They wouldn't forward it on because the package was damaged. Don drove there to recover it for me and only allowed his direct gas charge to be deducted from the payment. His time was on him.

A true gentleman in the fur trade.

And for those that did not know him well, the love he had for his late wife is the thing of legend.

Sad news indeed. Met him at the NTA convention in Marshfield, Wisconsin a few years back. Had a voice that was easy to recognize. I will miss our conversations.

Don took the time to teach me how to handle otter when Indiana opened the season. I can still hear him saying “keep that knife flat boy, look what your doing to my €}*#€<£| beam!!!” I was almost 50 years old, hadn’t been called boy in a while. I still have the snares he gave me as examples of what he used. I think I will hang them up in the shop.

im just now seeing this and deeply saddened to hear of dons passing........we talked extensively about ginseng and other things pertaining to wildcrafting,,,,,,,don was a wealth of knowledge, and his loss will be greatly felt by not only those here on tman......but to the individuals in the outdoors community as well. not to many of us wildcrafters left ....seems like no one wants to learn about it anymore. rest in peace don......

Sad news. Just talked to Don a few weeks back and was planning on paying him visit at the end of April. Sorry I didn't make it sooner. Don I'll take that steak dinner and cold beer later. Gonna miss you my friend.
