Adding a BAD to a snare

Adding a BAD to a snare - 12/09/20 03:18 AM

Guys quick question for the snaring crowd. I have a couple dozen snares I bought new a few years ago. This year in MN it is required that snares have a BAD. The snares in question have a micro lock. Can I add a a BAD to this style lock? If so, J hook, S hook, other? Also, if I can add one to this particular set up, is it better to cut the snare on the swivel end or the lock end?

Thanks!

Yes you can add a BAD to them. J-hook or S hook, you just have bend the end of the cable correct for whichever style. IT would be easiest though to nip off the end at the lock and replace it with a release ferrule type BAD. Do you know what type cable you have?

ADC, thank you for the reply. I'm pretty sure it's 7X7 cable that is 3/32" thickness.

I agree with ADC. Clipping off the lock end will prevent you from putting the lock back on backwards. You usually don't discover this until your setting the snare or after you've missed your target. It's pretty simple, just don't over think it.
