Friday Night Fight (TX BBQ is Best) - 04/11/20 01:30 AM

Coopers BBQ in Llano TX is the best BBQ in Texas which produces the best BBQ in the world and anybody who says different is a daggum fool.

Forget pandemics, forget evolution NOT explaining the creation of life, and forget that we will all be on some kind of government take (socialism) in the next few months. Forget that Boco is a bozo with a frozen brain and that James is a master baiter b/c he baits you guys into being upset just for kicks. Lets fight about something important!

Im talking a good old fashioned bareknuckle, roll around in the parking lot, fight to settle this once and for all. Put yer big girl pants on I am feeling feisty as Yosemite Sam himself tonight so come at me. This can also be counted as a drinking game LOL

Can't argue with ya, I've never tried Texas BBQ. My son moved down there, so I'm sure I'll get the chance. I'm 40 miles East of KC, but I don't care much for the BBQ over there. Best I've ever had was called, if I remember, Rudy's, in Oklahoma City

One day Texans will learn how to do pork. Nevermind, they'll screw that up too. Lol

Re: Friday Night Fight (TX BBQ is Best) - 04/11/20 02:07 AM

That is total BS, my barbecue is the best hands down. If you don't believe me just jump in your truck and come on up. Even if it isn't the best we could sure have a good time proving it. grin

Re: Friday Night Fight (TX BBQ is Best) - 04/11/20 02:07 AM

Rudy's is good. I dig most of their stuff but their sausage gives me a headache. I always guessed it was too much MSG or something.
As far as pork this Texan is working on it. The daggum feral hogs are everywhere the little showts (sp?) eat well.

I ben to a place or two down by the stockyards that are really good but this is all about fighting mister Run.

Any barbecue is good barbecue in my book - even the McRib.

I'd pretty much rather do it myself anymore. I've got 4 porterhouses thawing out for tomorrow evening

Forget them ferels, you'd be better off eating a possum.

If you get as far south as New Braunfels (NE of San Antonio) one exit has a Coopers, a Black's, and a Rudy's all with in a half mile.
And as if you didn't have enough choices you have to basically drive by Hays Co BBQ at San Marcos (home of Geo Straight) on I-35 or past Lulling BBQ if you come from the east on I-10.
You could spend a whole week in food coma just figuring out which one was your fav because there isn't a bad bunch in the lot.

Headache73- hard to beat a nice hunk of beef singed on two sides and pink in the center. BBQ is for lesser cuts IMO anyway

Thanks,

Hoping to hit the southern part of Texas on our way home. We'll be going across the top on our way out.

Leftlane, I agree completely. The wife just asked me yesterday when I was going to do another brisket. I'm off next week cause of this virus, I may have to get one ready and smoke it

Oh I don't make threats. The fire pit and smoker are both located within a few yards of the firing line of my range, this is all located at the edge of a good fishin hole. A fella would have to be trying awfully hard to not have a good time BBQing at my place. grin

I'll bite ha ha yes I've eaten some BBQ from Johnny Trige ? On spelling and yes it was Darn good food but my favorite is from the World Famous Blue's BBQ in Billings Mt I really like beef brisket or pork ribs and the BBQ sauce is out of this world.

You mentioned George Strait he's one of my favorite entertainers I've ever built a stage for he's also a hard core big game Hunter so he can't be all bad .

If its rubbed right and smoked for 12-13 hrs it’s probably fit to eat . I’ve had a lot of real good eating when there was smoke in the air an I was somewhere in Texas. Hines. On 59 south of Houston uses pecan and is above average. And yep if you want BAR-B-Q Texas is about as good as it gets in restaurants. If it’s private then it’s what you know, the equipment, the wood, and the meat. Not where you are at.

Andrew I am guessing Marty and I would just give up and go ahead and have some fun there. You guys can handle the food and drink and I'll check on that fishin' hole!

Marty, Jason Bolland plays at Gruene Hall and Floors Country Store all the time. He and his guys always look like they could change your oil and rotate the tiles in 10 mins flat which is just one of the reasons we love them!

Bwahaahaahaa.
Hey kid are you drunk or did you go off the deep end ? Just up the road and on the other side is Inman's. It makes ole Terry Wootan and Cooper's look like Ned and the first reader.

Ive been told I need to try inmans. I eat way to much hays co and black's. My arteries are probably all clogged up and I will be able to die a happy man

YA see Lefty we eat out a lot but hardly ever leave the compound. partly because there is a really nice BBQ not far from the boat.

Here we wash stuff like the above down with a Guinness and a Irish Whiskey to clean the pallet.

I always enjoy good company, but I am afraid this Lib governor in my state would have us all thrown in the clink over a BBQ right now. Probably turn loose a few rapists or murderers to make room for scum like us. frown Course if Marty can convince her that sighting oil is hand sanitize just maybe we could get away with it. laugh

You TN guys got me shaking my head LOL. Youre talking open fire grilling steaks there and yes youre doing it right.

The NC guys give me a chuckle. The put vinegar all over pulled pork and none in the coleslaw. They're an amical bunch every time I work over there so I try not to hold it against them.

Re: Friday Night Fight (TX BBQ is Best) - 04/11/20 03:36 AM

I never ate at many bbq places but know several people that have been in that business. Most of them made a good living.

Cooper family doesn't own the Cooper's in Llano
Inman family doesn't own Inman's
Cooper family doesn't own the original Cooper's in Mason
Cooper family does own Cooper's in Junction

Interesting. Im betting its like owning dairy cows- you never make it but a couple hrs from home and its time to turn around and get back to it.

Well evidently old Man Black still owns his restaurants. He was posted at the door the first time we stumbled into the one at NB. Black felt, white shirt, black bolo tie and black wranglers. He introduced himself to each and every customer and even had two of his buddies playing swing band music for the crowd. I could see this if it was grand opening weekend but that place had been open for months. Of course we felt loved and appreciated and everything there was top shelf

I’ll agree with you I’ve been a lot of places not just in TX but all over and cooper’s is one of my favorites for BBQ. Their brisket most importantly!

They can't BBQ nothing right in proper down in the land of steers and queers. If'n you want the best, come to Ohio, the BBQ Capitol of the world. grin

PS. Ain't had Texas BBQ, if it can beat Tenn, then it's gotta be good.

I've been to Tejas, my kids moved to Tejas, I've eaten BBQ there, some of it was ok....

As much as Texans can't , or won't , admit it, there's a lot of mediocre brisket in Texas.... grin

Not that I remember but I did have some fine BBQ at the fair grounds in Des Moimes. I've long since forgotten the name of the place but it was worth remembering

Brisket done right is about as good as meat gets. I'd love to try Franklin's.
