Was interested to here if anybody has heard this song and if anyone on trapperman remembers the incident. Kinda of an interesting story from what I read.

That's a pretty cool song. No I'd never heard it before.

Yeah, I have several Ian Tyson albums. From what I have gathered the song is fairly accurate. However, if I remember correctly the guy wound up turning himself in later on, and there are a couple pertinent details that are left out of the song.

Have listened to Ian Tyson for years.
Claude never turned himself in. He got shot in the heel and he cried out in pain and that was how they found him. After he had returned to Paradise Valley NV.

Don't know how it happened. I wasn't there. Just like everything else though, some people think he was a perfect angel and did no wrong, and some think he should have swung from a rope.

God knows the truth, and will handle it.

Or google it.

According to some reports Officer Pogue had such a bad reputation that he spent most of a day contacting fellow officers before he found someone (Elms) willing to go with him. A T-man post included raw details of the encounter but that post was more than 3 years ago and I could not find it.

When Arizona, where I had been trapping, season closed at end of February I went to Colorado to trap bobcats in March. A Colorado DNR officer saw Idaho plates on my vehicle and asked questions for several minutes to make sure I was not Dallas.
