Rifle scope help - 03/09/18 02:50 AM

Hello everyone I’m having a rifle scope problem. The rifle is a 22-250 made from a Mauser action and has a custome base for the scope it seems. It has two holes in the from one in the back. The rings screw off the top. The problem is I would like to put a 50mm scope on it and the bell doesn’t clear. Is there a one out there who sales screw in rings? Is there anyone who makes the bases? The name on the base says “Williams” I have a few pictures here too hope that helps. Thanks!

When you say the rings"screw" off are you talking standard Redfield bases. They have a dovetail 1/4 turn in front and windage screws in the back. If so then a variety of rings will fit the bases. Leopold,Redfield,Burris, and possibly millet. For the 50mm
objective bell you need high rings.

Or some shims under the bases

You need a taller set of rings, I had them for my 56mm Weaver, and my 50mm redfield too

I doubt you'll find any.
I have the same mout on an old 1917enfield. Their a nice mount for adjusting as the front hole is bushed offset so you can align the scope to the bore if the holes are off.

Here's a pic of one i saw on ebay.

The "nut" it screws into ia a large knurled piece. I thought if i had to, i'd knock the stud outta the ring and make a longer one and bush it up if needed, but my scope fits ok.

Leopold makes a 50mm scope with the objective cut out so it can be mounted lower.

This isn’t exactly what it looks like. Was wondering the same thing if the stud would come out and use a bigger one with shims.

You may be able to buy a Leupold base and have it drilled to mount to the base on the rifle. then you have a few more options

take it to a gunsmith and buy new bases or put a 40 or 32 back on. gunsmith will measure every thing or get a part number off what you have, and get you the correct ones. sometimes it pays to pay someone for what they know
