Where is Kristen?

Hi all!

I haven't been on here for awhile. I've been reading some posts and noticed the absence of Kristen. I really enjoyed her pics and posts. That girl is one heck of a trapper.

Facebook. An she just had a beautiful baby.

Oh really? Good for her! What is her FB handle?

I must be the ONLY ONE that doesn’t Facebook.

She's also on Instagram quite a bit... Busy with the new born, not doing any trapping at the moment.

I don't have my own Facebook either but I do use Fiona's to check out and post on the NT and Nunavut hunting stories of the day pages.

If you are a face booker you have way to much time on your hands. Just a gossip nosy soap opera live each minute of the day. LOL

facebook in general is pretty boring, but I have found all kinds of groups to join there. Several trapping groups and other hunting or fishing groups. The groups are basically like any other forum which makes it interesting.

I've made a few bucks/rid myself of "junk" on my local Buy Sell & Trade groups too.

What really is the thing people have interest in Kristen about?? There are many Lady trappers on this site she isn't any different then any other Lady trapper.

That is basically what I go on FB for. I hardly ever check my "feed."

She takes some of the best pictures of her catches, and seems to represent what every father who traps would look for in a daughter.

Kristen still checks into the site fairly often. She was last logged into the forum on 3 Mar 17. Many of her posts are still available, going back to 2010, I believe. To view them just type her user name into the “USER LIST” island at the top of the forum. Then click on her user name> then "Show User's Posts".

There are enough social media addicts out there now. I have modern technology now. I have a phone that if I want to talk to someone I can actually call and speak to them on a phone. Some are still in the dark ages and have to type a conversation. Really...

Why is there such pride in Not having Facebook? I am on FB. I keep in touch with my son's and other relatives that are out of State. I have tracked down and keep in touch with some of my old High School buddies. I stay in touch with some trapperman buddies like Blackdog, Buzzard and Phil Brown to mention a few. You don't HAVE to share every detail of your life with the world.

You can be specific in who you communicate with and who can communicate with you. I can post pictures and videos and only my trapper friends and family can see them. I don't need to filter them for fear of the "antis"

You're referring to FB right? Because antis can view this page. They can't view your FB profile if you use the privacy settings so that only friends can see what you post.

I only use FB for work. I like this forum because it's more open. Like a campfire with different people stopping by to chat for awhile.

We often use that old fashion thing called a telephone. Nice to hear the voice of the person I'm communicating with.

I was able to track down friends from my younger days on fb... And get their phone #'s.

I got on face book in 2007 I think. I used it mainly for job networking. Then I started having people from school, military, family members from all over the world contacting me.

I have a few friends I have not met, but they're hysterical so I keep them on my list.

Face book is full of drama, but so is this place at times. I exercise the dame choices I do there as I do here. If I don't like it or want to see it I ignore it.

Well looks like we just had a impromptu marketing survey. Businesses will see when they pull their dot com page and use Facebook exclusively leaves lots of folks that will never hear, know or buy from them.

i have no cell service at 80 percent of my area and have yet to own one and hope it stays that way.t-man is as much broadening of my horizons i can handle.

I'm #40 no FB for now, but I've been thinking about getting a FB page to advertise my construction business.
I have people ask me all the time for pics and ideas of some of my projects. I figured that would be a cheap and simple way to let people view the services I can provide them.

That however is the only reason. My wife has it for her reasons, but I can't believe some of the trash people put on there. She had to "un-friend" some people because of the junk they would link to her page. As a professional she couldn't have it.
She has lost some "friends" in real life because she un-friended them on FB. Just ridiculous.

There were 2 number 11's, that is why I jumped to 13.

Facebook can be used in many different ways. Seems to be a lot of folks here that have the notion that it is a place where teenage girls gather to spew drama and I guess that's exactly what it is for some people.

If you understand how to use the privacy settings, Facebook can be anything you want it to be.

As I mentioned above, I check in everyday to keep up with friends and family scattered across the US and some globally. I really like the PM feature and I have several private group messages that have been going for years. The one I look at first each morning and several times throughout the day is my immediate family; my wife, our three daughters and I. It is much more convenient than email and it shows as a thread (like here) rather than individual emails that have to be opened and responded to. One of my daughters works for the federal government and is currently stationed in Abuja, Nigeria. The Facebook private group messages let her chat with us (the rest of her family) and share the stuff we used to all share as a family at the supper table before my wife and I became empty-nesters.

On Facebook you have the ability to unfriend or unfollow anybody. If you're getting a bunch of drama and don't want it, learn to use the privacy settings. I have one old friend who loves to share conservative stuff from Brietbart and the like. It was clogging up my news feed. I unfollowed him which means I no longer see anything he posts on my wall but I can still check in on him and see how his latest fishing or hunting trip went.

Everyone I am friends with on Facebook I know and have met out in the real world. Apparently it is common for folks to accept friend requests from people they don't know. Heck, I don't even accept requests from some folks I do know...

Anyhow, it seems to me that some of you guys proudly proclaiming that you don't do Facebook and never will, don't really know what Facebook is.

Hello Trapperman!

I haven't visited in while! Another member directed to me to this post. Hope everyone is doing well. I've had an eventful couple months. I had a baby last month and then lost my grandfather this month. We had his service today. I witnessed my first 21 gun salute. It was the most incredible moment. I know grandpa would be proud. And where there is death there is also life. My baby girl Kennedy Reighn is amazing. Her middle name is a tribute to my grandfather. He was able to meet her before passing. It was a true blessing. She is absolutely perfect. Trapping has been put on the back burner due to many different circumstances, but I plan to return to it next season. I miss being on the line. I'm very excited to hopefully pass on the tradition.

Who’re you telling? My daughter was eight when I first joined . Now she’s in her second semester of college.

We are all unique in our own way. I'm way different than anyone on this site and so are you. I have been a part of this family for almost 9 years. I posted often and interacted with a lot of the members here. They've seen me at my best and worst. So it's only natural for someone to ask. Plus, I'm a great conversation starter. (Obviously)

Exactly. While snowy is correct in that we’ve got other great women trappers here , many of us have watched Kristen grow up . As a trapper , into a woman , and so on . It’s a cool dynamic, really.

Fact is , this bunch have seen me through regaining my love of harvesting fur , a deployment, a divorce soon after, new beginnings in family and faith . Lots of that has been shared here . Kristen also shared her development. Sooo...

Sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

Congrats on the baby girl!! They are the most amazing things ever. My son will be 1 on the 22nd of January, I can’t even remember what life was like before him...

That's a nice one there.
So when you go out on the line next fall, the baby backpacks are great for the little ones to be with you...but you have to remember to bend at the knees when checking traps....or the little ones come squirming past your head....heading for the drink. Luckily I caught my little one before her first marsh baptism. After that my spouse carried our 8 month on her back.
