These are currently growing in my sisters lawn . Under a maple tree.
Is this a correct ID?
Everything I am reading shows them on tree trunks , ect.
Could possibly be a root exposed underneath them.
Also they all quote it as a spring mushroom. These are freshly grown.

It looks like them, but I have never scene them in the fall. I have also never scene them grow on the ground. If you cut them they should smell like watermelon rind.

I have ate them a few times and trust me they are not very good. Certinly not good enough to get sick over.


don't worry over the smart ones. catch the dumb ones, they pay the same.

i can do it because i dont know that i cant.

Your id is correct...I'm sure there is a dead root/ or piece of wood under ground were its at. I find them all times of the year.

Any one have a good recipie for them. The ones I fixed, were like eating the tree the grew on.
