I have a large subdivsion that has a good size lake with muskrats in the bulkhead. The issue that I am having is that there is a boat ramp there also and lots of foot traffic and swimming dogs. I have been using a floating colony trap on the other side of the lake with little success I was seeing if there were any ideas that would keep the chance of people, dogs, ducks, geese from getting injured but catch the rats.

I was looking at making a couple floaters with 1.5s or #110 but doesnt bait bring in ducks and geese?

Colony trap in run

The measure of a man is what he will do when he knows he won't get caught.

I'm using colony's but the way that the holes are in the wood bulkhead it is a pain to support the colony's at the right height. Also I think I'm only getting the rats that are coming out of bank dens not going in. Because the way that the trap butts against the sea wall it sticks out too far.

I keep thinking of something like one of 330's side entry traps if the sea wall is flat enough.
