New Hampshire has had two rabies cases that I know of one coyote, and one coon.

Does one take extra precautions when the possiblity of rabies exist?

Or will the normal percautions be enough?

Thanks

The possibility of rabies always exists. At the very least talk to your family physician for a consult on your options.

If you're going to be working with animals, getting the pre-exposure rabies shots is the prudent thing to do.

I hope this will help some of you guy out there. I'm a 40% disabled service connected vet. I have already received my pre exposure shots and have gotten 1 booster since then and as of July 2012 my titter levels are good to go. I get my titer levels check every 6 months with my 6 month check up at the local VA. clinic. this is at NO coast to me because I do not Pay for my meds. The Va here in Michigan classifies your Rabies shot as occupational preventative maintenance because I deal with wildlife.

As did I. You may have to argue a bit, and/or go to the Patient Advocate, make sure to say that you handle wild animals and NEED the shots.
