I just had a past customer ask me how much to install a mono filament line or other barrier around half of their property to keep the geese and their goslings away from their four dogs, who have already killed some of the goslings. ( I know, I'd rather watch the dogs too ) Two dozen years in this business and customers can still ask questions I haven't heard before; no wonder we like our jobs. Any suggestions?

I see people take stakes and rope along there lake front homes . Is does keep the geese off there lawns . They go 2' high and like 4" between the rope http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndCkZvCvZds&feature=youtube_gdata_player. In this video is a goose barrier . I don't think using mono would be a good idea . The goose mite get tangled up in it . Mono is what my uncle has used for years to keep the deer out of his garden .

the mono only worked for me years ago when the geese was grounded and even then it had to be installed so the geese would not push through. really was not a option for me in my area. when hung visuals from the lines they still get use to it. if the grass is greener in the yard they will figure out how to get there. even when they are grounded they can still get enough to get a couple of feet off the ground for a short distance. if the dogs keep going after the geese every time they come into the yard there is the best problem solver LOL

Are you talking about gridding? Stringing parallel lines across a body of water that geese are apt to try to land on? I'd love to see it in action. A flock comes down to land... the first one clips a wing on a line and cartwheels across the water. The rest decide to find a better place to land...

I use some temporary fencing around a few prefferred nesting locations at store fronts every year to curtail nesting. I have also installed a few grids, they work well but are not attractive and limit pond usage. I also have installed several permanant barriers ussually they have been black plasti coated kevlar cable it has a UV resistant plasti coating and lasts for years where mono breaks down quickly. I always install 4 strands 4",8", 12' and 16" above the ground. One time built a 200 yard long chain link fence to separate 2 apartment complexes, we had a very successfull harassment plan at complex A and their neighbor complex B did nothing, so of course the geese would just walk back and forth, installed the fence and it was to much effort for to little reward for the geese to bother flying over.

Tom, I think that's the stuff I used on my wife when we were dating. She was always trying to take off.
