I know several ways to make explosives, but calcium?

Anyway, so you don't get cross-grained with ATF, you have to have a ATF permit to make explosives, even if they are to be used the same day. You might want to contact them.

Adios,

I would be quite cautious in this area due to the obvious implications of danger and those that may take this interest in these materials in a different tone.

Blowing up anything with homemade explosive's is dangerous, especially post 9-11, and is messing around with federal law.

If you can get the proper clearance( ATF ) getting the explosives will be discussed.OR hire a company that has the proper license? While it sure sounds like fun the liability is too great a risk to be taken.Bob evans

Look at Google search and type in Tannerite and see what it does.

Contact APHIS Wildlife Services (a Federal agency) they have staff licensed for explosives and take out lots of beaver dams.. They could help you out.

Buzzards mention of a "tater rake" is what I use to tear a hole in a beaverdam. Once the beaver(s) have been removed an a hole,( or holes) has been torn into it. the water then will drain and the heavy rains, over time, will do the rest.

Beaverdams however do hold back pools which in my mind are beneficial to streams, fish and other wildlife.

Vinke, you need to come down here and help me on these nuisance beaver calls...2 more calls today. It's messing with my 'coon trapping! laugh
Then of course you must drain the place when finished in order to get payed....It's like working concrete! crazy
These beaverdams are the worst I've ever messed with...SOLID sticks and clay! Taking one down is a real choir.

Morning everyone. Like you folks down there we have our own issues with Beaver. If we even thought about popping dams with
TNT or the like I would be on the inside looking out for a very long time. Now if you want to blow up things go to Alberta they have a whole different spin on Beaver out there. Here the vast majority of our waterways are considered fish bearing streams and all are protected. I even have Ministry guidelines that I have to follow which include everything must be done by hand and all debris has to be removed out of the water course. Do I pull dams...you bet. I use a 10 ft. pike pole and get on the downstream side and have at it. Once it is understood how a Beaver builds it's dam they come apart not too bad.
You guys have a great day.
Cheers
Pete
