Hi all, I am aplying for a job as an animal controle officer in a nearby town, and wondered what advice you guys have? I have trapped quite a bit, and lived on a farm, and am used to animals being animals. I have done adc work in ohio when i was a bit younger, just wondering what y'all think I ought to know before I get started.(still don't have the job yet, so I am not really getting my hopes up)

How does the town define animal? Most only deal with with domestic animals.
Chasing stray dogs may be fun but then you have to deal with the owners.
Appearances are critical. Humane standards as the various animal groups define it will be your code of behavior.

Hopefully, you are paid by the hour and you will get paid for training. Good luck with the position.

Our local animal control officer gets drafted for traffic stops and other non animal matters also. Check it out carefully.

Yes to all the above, and also here, there are wild animals such as racoon, possum, skunk, and the ocasional stray mountain lion. Alot of work on drug raids on meth labs that have guard or attack dogs. Just wondering if any of you on here have done such work.
