Just got off the phone with Bill Caputo who runs the trapping "devision" at CADF&G here in Sacramento. He informed me that no seperate license is needed for nuisance trapping. He looked me up in the database and I was authorized to trap nuisance animals with my current license. All you have to do is check each box for which your trapping. He said he can't say what goes in each year but as of now, the one license permits you to do both types of trapping. Finally, some good news!

Yep, the good news is, you can do nuisance trapping with your fur trapping license. Now the bad news, so can everyone else. We have the same thing in Wisconsin, and it needs to be changed.

That stinks for WI. Fortunately most of the trappers license sales go to nuisance trappers, not fur trappers. CA is a pretty good state when it comes to competition with it's large size and not TONS of trappers. More nuisance guys getting into it than fur trappers.

Livetrap, the good news is that you can trap with your fur trapping license and there is no nuisance trapping license in CA. The bad news is that if you do any pest control for hire, you have to have a pesticide applicators license and a pest control business license from the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Doesn't matter whether you use pesticides or not.

When you say pest control, I assume you're also including nuisance wildlife trappers? If so, how much do they run here in CA and is there a test?
