Each year at our MTA Winter meeting in Isle we have several demo's. One will be aimed at the young crowd.
Spent quite a bit of time the past several years introducing MN young trappers to Weasels. I feel we should skip a year with another Weasel demo !

Keep in mind you will have young inexperienced trappers from about 11-17 participate. Got any idea,s on an interesting demo that could be directed to a younger crowd ? Let's hear some idea's from both young and old trappers !

how to set traps and making sets would be nice for guys to learn if the are just starting

Yeah, I like that idea. Skinning, and demonstrating with a weasel because it's small, easy, and still teaches them how to not cut the glands. (Where I live, cutting glands is a crime, especially in winter when I'm skinning in the house.)

But then, I might not see the kids demo.

i would for stretching part. Tom can skin a rat in less then 1 min, i still cant do as fast he can. still takes me 4 or 5 min's

Menards sells rebar in 10' and 20' lengths. I doubt anybody will touch there price !

I prefer the 1/2 " size as it stands up way better in this country. I suspect yours as well as dang you got a bunch of rocks over that way !

Would I do better with rebar or disposables?

I have a few feet of rebar that I think I measured it to be 3/4 of an inch. I could be wrong, but that is so strong I wouldn't mess with it. But I'll get some rebar when we go to Duluth. Any rough guesses how much 1/2"x10' will cost?

I can offer no advice on disposable stakes as I just can not get in the habit.

Last time I was at Menards I believe a 10' stick of 1/2" was less then $6. You need to remember I am getting old and my memory may not be good.

I am going to run a line out your way starting this weekend. We will see how it goes. Plan on tagging along once before the water gets hard !

Sounds good. I'll be gone out trapping myself for the next 2 weekends if all works out, but any weekdays are fine, I won't be in school anyway.

Oh and 2poor, when do you want to make stakes? I can't fit any rebar in my dad's car, and if we take the truck to Duluth then that won't be for a little while there. Probably in less than a month if gas keeps coming down. Do I just use a hacksaw to cut the rebar? What measurements? Sorry I'm asking so many questions.
