Been working on this project for the last couple days and was wondering what some of you guys use to actually hold coyotes in at your house untill you get a handfull. I have decided on this design for my transport boxes but really do not think it is the way to go for larger holding pens. This thing is heavy enough. Lets see em guys...

Yea buzz i know how you feel lol. Just wanting some ideas for the actual holding pens for home cause i can't afford to build more than maybe 2 of these things lol. Like i said tho these will be for transport boxes mostly but i will use them sometimes to hold for afew nights. I aint going the roll wire and hog ring way either. Done battled with that mess once and wasted quite a bit of money.

Ok, this is an old dirt floor barn shelter that I cleaned out to set up my holding pens. Should be able to hold around 50 fox, and maybe a dozen coyotes at one time. My buyer comes and gets them when I have a good load.
Some of these cages will be set up for Pee collection.

Here's my buddy Prune taking some measurements.

These are the cages that I bought from Bob Wendt. I know they are proven to hold game.

Here's a shot of the cages in place. Other than a few braces, and setting up for pee collection, they are pretty much done.

The cage on the right here is a 3 holer than can be taken to the field to seperate greys from reds from coyotes.

cool

Rod aint those the ones you got off Wendt here while back? I just can not bring myself to even think about fighting that wire again. I tried the roll wire thing and built a couple cages from it but it was a B is all i will say. Nomatter were i got the rings from they did not work correctly and they would come off while moving the cage so i never put a yote in them lol. I know alot of guys use them with no problems but i have my peeves about them.

Yeah Butch, they are the same cages. I was glad to pay for them already built to keep from going though what you are refering to putting them together. They are all still it great shape. Need new water cans in all of them, other than that, they are ready.

I just got finished building some holding pens out of goat wire I got from Attwoods store the squares are 3.5 x 3.5. They come in a 50 inch by 16 foot panel for $32.oo. They seem to work good.

Yes Butch, I put about a 1" weld atleast every 4"s. They are real durable and fairly light weight, atleast compared to the ones you got there.

You ain't wrong blaine, this thing weighs in around 125 lol. I can load it in a truck myself by standing it on end a couple feet from the tailgate and just tip it twards the truck and and scoot it up.

Buzzard, I have had several people wanting to buy some of mine, but I needed them. I can move those cages if you want to get rid of them. Give me a call tommorrow when you get a chance.

Looks good Blaine.
Butch, if you had that one in a place where you didn't have to move it, it would be perfect for holding coyotes at home a few days.

Butch,my transports are like Blaine's, and I have hauled hundreds of yotes in them.

Bottomline, the cages you have will hold most yotes for awhile. But one old alfa and it will have big hole in it as soon as you leave it for a few minutes.

I have a large heavy pen for holding but all my material was free. Coyotejack made a good holding pen with a old cotton trailer. Hope this helps.

nice looking box Butch.

this box is a bit heavy for one person to handle.I designed this box to where you see the angle in the center of box where you can slide expanded metal panel from top to divide the boxwhere if you wanted to put water bucket inside without the rattlesnake bitting you, you can lol. I have another box that is not as heavy just to transfer I will use this next season.

Tony, I use those plastic Pet Porters in the field. Not had a problem so far.

Hey Tony, that second transport cage you made. Is it out of Horse panels? Looks good.

Butch, the paint job looks nice.

yup, horse panels.

thinking i ought to build something, so as to custom fit the back of 4-wheeler, where i can put cats, coons and so forth on top, the pet carriers work good for hauling yotes back to truck, but they take up the whole back of your wheeler, not leaveing much room for anything else, and if ya lay something on top of it prolly won't be there when ya git to truck. LOL

If you could fix some type of rail on top like hunters do on their dog boxes to hold coolers and keep deer from sliding off. One inch square tubing or some conduit would do the job.

That old barn has been there all my life. I asked my mom if I cleaned all the junk out if I could use it for my pens. She said I could do whatever I wanted with it. Glad I didn't have to build anything. It's about 1/10th a mile from my house. I can see it from my yard. Not too bad. Going to run some power out there next so I can have lights, and small freezer for meat to feed, and maybe a fan for them.

Here in IA I can sell coyotes... if their raised for two generations then I could sell 'em. So, basically... they have to be domesticated first.
Even though I heard 'bout two trappers in my area who take coyotes during trapping season to this running pen in town.
Either it's legal during trapping season or their doing something illegal.

God is awesome
