Blaine, the bone and feathers are visible from above and the bone is to large. That being said, I use the T-bone alot but my CO's have no problem with it. I always tell people to check with the CO where you will be trapping. Our laws are written so they can be interpreted anyway they want it.

yeah otter I know, every CO I have talked to have told me feathers and bones are not considered as bait. Was curious why he said it was illegal(If a CO had told him it was illegal).

I would call it the "I'm gonna catch a bird set".

Whatever the name...both of those sets are "Nice looking future success Story" sets!!!! Young trappers pay attention!!

This set or variations of it works well for me and the flagging scares a lot of the coyotes from the set .

The feathers were snow goose feathers I picked up where something had an easy meal from cripples ( large irrigation lake close) from waterfowl hunters, Chicken Catch aRory was humurous, Your Goose is cooked is another.

I use multiple scents at cat sets and their is castor on the upright for rubbing,gland in the T-bone and Nelson cat-based in the dirthole and yes urine, maybe overkill but sometimes you only get one chance at a wandering Tom.

A friend went on my line as a visitor saw all the feathers, t-bone droppings and exclaimed it looked like an Indian burial mound set.

Most of my sets are walk=thru or modified walk-thru.

Normally I use less feathers but the goose feathers where handy, usally a single feather will suffice as this set shows.

Unfortunetly in our state as well feathers are illegal to use if they are visable (figure that out).

Thanks to all who posted on this thread, which started in fun, but became an informative thread to the credit of the posters.

One great thing of importance that came out was that while this set ,with the exposed feathers and bone is perfectly legal in the state of Missouri, may not be a legal set in some states because of the exposed animal parts.

READ AND COMPLY WITH YOUR STATE'S LAW ,!!

These sets will work, as TM Chessie posted with fiberfill as eye appeal allowing it to comply with no exposed animals restrictions in some states.

They will work also without eye appeal .
