You aren't kidding about snow plow wash, especiall last year. I was shoveling out ditches and culverts for a week straight just to pull half the line. Luckly I went out at midnight during one of the worst of those snowstorms and got a bunch out before the plows put a stop to that nonsense.

Been there!! Its not any fun! I try to keep mine at least 20-25ft off the side of the road. Sometimes Mothernature catches ya off guard!
