You might consider lanolin, better viscosity in colder weather and better allows the "added scents" to dispense.

Cameron2 might enlighten us a bit more.

caught the few words of wisdom and have used it for many years.
bear baiting i wouldn't be with out it(anise) the mexican kind is very strong....
i also go thru alot of licorce, I buy it by the bulk. blend it up, mix a few things in it and walla---BAIT! RAIN SNOW OR SHINE, ANISE NEVER GOES AWAY-ONLY GETS STRONGER!
i also use banana & butterscotch works great guy & gals! Rum is another on; all works good!
