during bow season I have seen 5 coons nose to tail walking down a trail.

I survived the death clutch of Boss Hog, and am now here for my 3rd tour of duty on Tman

When setting trails with body grippers coon will sometimes avoid spots where other coon were caught. This can sometimes be remedied by moving the trap a few feet from the spot of capture. I have found gangsetting with pockets to be more productive than snares or body grippers in trails. Just my experience. Hope this helps you out!

leave some space like 20' between body grips on trails.
usually thy will go around their caught "buddy" and get back on the trail,
like trophyhunter said i have seen coons run in single file line while i was bowhunting too.

I have a 50% catch when I gang set. I set two sets close together and I get one coon, so that is 50% right. I have never had much luck gang setting for coon around here, we just don't have as many coon as a lot of places. Now for fox that is a little different, I have caught more doubles on fox than I have coons. If I was in Iowa or somewhere with lots of coons I would diffently gang set. Here's a picture of a double pocket gang set I used this season and how it went down.

I left the traps here for four nights and I caught one coon in the pocket on the left and one coon in the pocket on the right the next night and one check I caught a possum in the right pocket. I would surely try gang setting in your location though and see how you do.

i gang set for coon.... how many traps per spot depends on the location .... and many times have ended up with doubles, triples, and quads .... what i do ... mainly depends on the situation ... but if i make catches and notice a trail goes dead ill look for an alternate route they may be taking .... if ya can find multiple trails leading into a feeding, denning, etc area it is ideal .... set one trail til it dies down ...then hop back and forth on the trails ...will keep ya catch rate up ... as far as creek trapping in this area im in ... sum places ya can barely break the ground .... hard clay and rock .... but if it isnt too bad ill poke in sum pockets .... but mainly rely on blind sets and smear sets (quick and effective) i think Jtrapper told me they are called projection type sets now ... anyhow .... i catch many doubles and triple set up in this way also .... not to mention rats and mink .... good luck to ya
