LT,
Instead of bedding them with the jaws pointed up I will try them will the jaws pointed down to see how that works in the runs.

I had a little trouble with Steves traps to begin with, but here lately after I've got the hang of them I'm hammering the moles,I haven't had a miss in more than a week, also haven't even bothered to set an out of site in that time.
In my opinion there the best mole trap made!....B....

sounds like i need to add some of steve's traps to my collection. i did a search & found 17 different traps being offered. some were duplicates meaning the same trap but a different brand. they all look like they have their own time & place to be used. is anyone using the EZ Set Mole trap? there's also 2 different chinese knock-offs of it. the EZ Mole & Mole silencer. i'm amazed at how much damage one mole can do. i had some damage here at home & as widespread as it was i was sure that i had at least 2. i shiskabobbed one & now all damage has stopped. he was going around the house as far as 50' to the front & 250' to the rear & all the zig zagging in between. it now looks like voles are using the old tunnels. they are not bothering me for now & besides i have a red tail & a sharp shin hawk working the area & the other night i spotted a great horned owl. i'm leaving the voles for them.

Zack,
Believe me. Get some of Steve Albano's mole traps. Made of stainless steel, there is no maintainence on them at all. You do not have to make any adjustments, Nothing, just set them in the runs and bad bing bada boom you got a mole in them. I'm beginning to think the moles are attracted to stainless steel. Everytime I set mine they keep gettin plugged up with dead moles........you can't have nothin nice! You might want to check with Steve and see what size traps he would suggest for you, they come in two sizes.
Also make you some kind of cable loops on the ends to stake them down with so coons or other critters dont dig up the traps and tote off the mole and your trap.

Hi all:

Been using a combination of Out of sights and Steve's traps.
On gophers I just go with Steve's gophinator, great trap. On
moles I scrape off the mound and dig until I find the tunnel.
If the tunnel is right on top of the mound, I use the out of
sight, if not, I dig until I get to the tunnel and use Steve's
traps. If I find the tunnel running under sidewalks or walls I
use steve's traps. If I am any where near plastic pipes I use
Steve's traps. So I am 50% on traps and usually don't miss. I
am new even though I have been trapping on and off for 20 years, but I am finding that the more time I spend setting the traps the
better results I have. I rate each setting from 1-10 and record
this on each property. I sometimes set 8 traps for one mole
if time allows. Most of my clients have one mole even though they think they have more. I have learned its best to charge
a monthly fee and guarantee no more damage.

Hi Fellas, I'm new to the board and the business for that matter. I have been lurking and checking things out on the board for several days. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for moles in sand? I've been trying different traps. Best performer so far has been Steve's traps. One mole and one escape (ground was mounded above the trap from the struggle) with Nomoles. One mole and lots of empty tripped traps with the Victors. No trips as of yet with OOS's. I've tried different setting techniques with the OOS's.

Thanks,
Greg

Hanible,
So far I have not tried any of steve's traps over on the beach (outer banks beaches)in real sandy soil, but this week Im going to experiment at a friends house who installed sod in his yard this summer and has been having mole problems since then.
I'll post something in the next couple of days after I play around with the traps in the sand.

Leary, it's seems that trapping surface tunnels is unproductive. It's so easy for them to go around the trap in the sand. Steve's traps in the deep tunnels under fresh mounds has been very productive.

Sand.......yep, a whole 'nother ball game!
I make a wedge out of clay and 'roll it' in sand before placing it back into the sandy tunnel!
