So what do you use to pull your rebar stakes?

Here's the best thing I've ever used ... been using it about three years and wouldn't want to do without it

Dig out the top of the stake with the end ... slide onto rebar & slide/pump rapidly to pull stake out of the ground ... works great with minimal effort ... slick as cat sh poop

Beats the heck outa using a crow bar or claw hammer etc.

Regular ol pick. Just make sure and get one with wood handles, the fiber one's give and are a pain! Can put boot on backside pick and push down while pulling the handle back, pop's them right out, sometimes both at one time.

crowbar or my claw hammer always worked for me

$20.00 trap, a $1.00 stake, probably $1.00 in pan cover, bait, urine, and lure, Not to mention gas etc. All for a $10.00 coyote.Priceless!!!!!

I made mine from ½" round rod. It is about 20" long and the two ends are about 1 ½" long the T-bar handle is about 6" long. All it really does is give you a very good handle to pull on the stakes. I heat the rod to make the bends and it is important to make the one bend on the main rod less than 90 degrees so it actually points up a little. It is also important to be sure the T handle and the bends are oriented the same as the picture. That way you can swing it into the ground at the stake, it goes right under and makes pulling them very easy. Sometimes I have to hit the stakes down a little to break the frost then hook this under and they pull easy.

Skinner,

Did you get the idea from Mark Steck, "Dry Land coon trapping" video. I seen apart in the movie where he uses something like what you have to pull the stakes.

I made one kind of like the one you have. I had one of our engineers and our tool room guys at work modify it and build it. (We got to keep these guys sharp, since the auto industry is slow we have to keep these professionals thinking. LOL)

The one I have is actually a Puller/ Driver. Based on the slidehammer design mechinacs use.

It actually works pretty well. It just gives you a good handle to get ahold of. It works especially well on snare stakes where the grass is wrapped around and piled up on them. I just swing it at the ground like, and when I hear it hit metal I know I found the stake and can work it under without digging out the stuff to expose the stake head. Our soil is firm here too for the most part. I make them just about the right length so I can use my legs to pull instead of my back on hard to pull stakes.

A pair of vice grips, a couple of rotations and then pull it out. The off set crow bar and a chunk of wood for the fulcrum if need to get a start. Tom

This works alright if you don't have a welder. It only cost $9 but i think skinners looks more reliably.

well skinner been meaning to tell Linvol and show some pics but the better 1/2 is gone and I am not much good at posting pics you know the mattoch that Linvol used in his demos and people laughed at well I take one of them multiple use dig chop and on the digging end take a grinder and make a slot so the rebar fits in it and then just rock back on the other end works great and on the chopping end make a slot to fit the cable in on earth anchors and rock back will work for a lot of things
