I have had a coon make it back after being released six miles away. And this isn't farm country. Ponds, lakes, thick bush, and no roads between where it was released and where it came back to

Distance is needed, but if you go say 10 miles make sure it is not the same drainage. 10 miles up or 10 miles down.

Go ten miles across many drainages.

Jerry ask a question..... and everyone gave him an answer.

But my answer is going to be a little different.

It is illegal to relocate animals in Tennessee. So assuming that you are doing this in your home state. I wouldn't worry so much about distance, I would just make sure no one sees you releasing them.

And I probably wouldn't post about it online.

Can't relocate any RSV in Connecticut. Only can release on the property that they were caught on, as if that makes sense. Must be euthanized.
