Can anyone help with identification and value on this jump trap? I cant seem to find any stampings on the trap anywhere. I tried some wd40 on the pan but it doesn't appear that it was stamped. I believe it is a 1 1/2 size trap. Thanks

Oneida Community made some wavy jaw jumps in 1908 in sizes #19, #21, and #23. I don't remember ever seeing one so don't know if that is what you have or not. Some of the guys that have been in collecting for a while should be able to recognize it.

Did you make a big trap lot purchase lately? You seem to be coming up with a lot of unusual traps.

Yes I did. I purchased a lot of about 400 traps over the weekend and there were quite a few oddballs in there. There are some Newhouse, some early what I believe are hand forged Newhouse, and a bunch of other older traps. Still sorting things out.

Is this the Marsh Special? I've got one buried somewhere. Otherwise, it looks european to me. They do jump traps with cutouts in the pan like this. But the chain looks american to me (could have been added later). Could be someone put this together from parts too: March special jaws, triumph pan that they cut the notch in (looks too neat a cut for that though).

Not a Marsh Special,in my opinion. I would say definitely European.

The Marsh Special that I have looks like a regular Oneida jump other than the jaws. One jaw has small serrations on one end and small serrations on the other end of the second jaw; therefore, the serrations don't match up with each other. The round pan is marked Marsh Special around the top.

This is the #23, made by Oneida Community for sale in Australia. They also made a #21 that is the same size but has narrower jaws and the humped cross for the pan attachment rather than a pan post.
