I'm not a weasel expert....but I'm gonna have to learn. Weasel is killing chickens in a coop. I set a mink box out with a rat trap in it with some coyote bait and feathers in the box....but given this thing has developed a taste for chicken, I'm not confident he will give other baits a second look....any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Not a weasel expert either, but I'd think a bloody bait such as chicken gizzard/heart/liver would work better than a prepared canine predator bait.

If it's eating chicken give it chicken. You can also add some blind sets with small footholds or rat traps. Look for small holes or trails. They are pretty easy to catch but with live food available they may not look in boxes.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Weasels are opportunists like most predatory animals. Put trap set ups in or along their activity areas and if they make enough visits you will catch them. Mix up blind and baited sets. They are a hit and go animal many times as mink can be as well. Not staying long in anyone one area very long.

I can't swear it is a weasel, but.....the chickens it kills are missing only the heads. The coop is in a barn with dogs so I don't think it is a skunk. Also, the property owner told me he found a dead weasel (killed by dogs?) a few weeks ago. I appreciate all the advice. I've set some baited traps with chicken...may try to set a trap with live bait this weekend... Always humbling to get outsmarted by a creature with a brain the size of a pencil eraser....Thanks again!

Gang...thanks for the help. It ended up being a mink....it is a mink no more. My niece and her chickens are resting much better now. Thanks again for the advice.
