With the cable laws in Mi.,it will be almost impossible for you to hold fox.I make snares and cable restraints for most states, but when your restraint laws were changed--I quit making those for Michigan land snaring.

Is it because of the deer stop or the lock in your opinion? Not that I could change either of those, just curious.

Yes,they changed the stop distance and now the restraint does not close far enough to hold fox. The bobcat guides and hunters ,chose to push for a larger opening--most bobcats will also get out of the existing restraints. And that is what the guides and hunters were looking for--less competition.

I'm not sure what size the cable was. I just bought "michigan legal cable restraints". I pulled my cables today, going to put out a straw set later today. Foxes are in the area, fresh tracks for the past three days.

If you are going to make a bait pile, there are 2 things to keep in mind. NO foothold traps. The birds will find em long before the coyotes. Also, you will need a large amount of bait (cow carcass, or several road-killed deer. You need a lot of bait, and expect it to take several days at minimum for the Coyotes to find it.

Good looking cat. The other side of him is messed up pretty bad. 7mm rem mag at 20 yards isn't ideal...

Geeze. 7 mag. Congrats on your first cat. That's awesome. Last weekend my buddy shot a yote with his 7 mag. It was a good one but just a little more sewing than I wanted. The hole was at least 10in by 8in. But ya. Congrats on your cat

The bullet entered the chest, and pretty much tore the other side apart. Front shoulder to just in front of the hind legs. Never sewed fur before, so this is going to be a learning experience for me.

Itll be a good one to practice on. Man that sucks that it was your first that it happened to. Were you wanting to get your first mounted or tanned? Deffinately be a job to sew it. I sew the smaller holes on my yotes and its a chore. Congrats on the cat again and good luck!!

Use floss to sew it up, and just catch a little bit of the leather with the needle.

Hay set is awful crusty after all that freezing rain. Busted up the grass over the trap a little today to make sure they'll still function. Might be hanging some cables for coyotes starting this weekend.
