Why does everything have to be about size, everyone knows that size does not matter. It's not the size of the tail its the wave motion from the slap on the water. Lol

Les, you have the same strain of beaver I have here. A70 pounder will have a rudder three inches wide nd a foot or more long. I think they crossbred with mushrats!

Yeah Lee I posted it as a joke. This is one I picked up today.

I'm not a big beaver trapper just pick up a bunch for bait every year. This one was out wandering on the ice when I caught up to him.

I put the piece of tape on in case someone thought it wasn't accurate.

Glad you see the same thing.

Okay...how I missed this post for as long as it was up amazes me.

So, I am a ice trapper and have yet to start. So how long does this go on for ???

I know where there is a beaver with at least a 10 inch tail. Huge he/her is saw it climb up onto the bank in the fall. I am going to have to work at this one. I hate to kill the colony.

Thank you for the post Hutchy...I am on it.

I've got coyotes to catch right now but I'll see what I can find in February. I've got a couple big ones scouted out.

This is a great idea! We caught some this year that might be worth digging out of the freezer to measure.
