Sorry it's upside down.???? It was found in maine this fall.the closest to it that I have found is a German made trap?

I have one that is similar by a German smith and another that came from belgium. Lot's of other blacksmiths made designs like this. I think the original style came out of Germany and regions there about. Early as Mid 1800's I think and I don't know how late. I don't think very. I think this type was phased out in the US pretty early.
