Where is strangest place you have found a bat inside living area of a house?

For me it was behind toilet paper roll on the roller

I did not find it, but a customer had just finished rinsing her hair in the shower and then found one hanging inside on the shower curtain beside her. She was not a happy camper.

Inside the toe area of a hip wader in the house.

One of our guys found one in the drain above the garbage disposal. He used an empty Gatorade bottle and a chopstick to get it out.

Not strange but I pulled 3 dead and mummified ones out of a furnace last week. You should of heard the homeowner scream and run like a little girl. I said they're dead, he said he didn't care they are still bats

As for the shower curtain one, now I see why there's job security in bat removal.

A month or so ago, I had a young couple w/a bat in bedroom. The bat landed on the woman's face as she slept. She of course woke up screaming. Her husband took the heaviest thing he could find.....a pillow...and hit it on the nightstand. They all ran out of room, incl. a 4 month old baby. When he went back to get the bat it was gone.

I found the bat inside the nightstand. Not too unusual I guess. But, inside the drawer to nightstand was a ziplock bag. The bat crawled into the bag. It's the first time I've had one bag itself up for the trip to the Viro lab.

I've found over the years, there is really no strange place a bat won't find. In, on or under, anything and everything.

Found one doing the breast stroke in a water tub the sauna this summer. Poor little fella was tired. Let him go.

Out west we have some programs to modify stock tanks on open range to have small mesh and climb out systems for bats.

More bats than folks realize end up in water sources and may get trapped within unable to climb out without texture on sides.

Hot tub is a great example with that slippery interior.

I'm sure he - or she was thankful for the save!
