Anyone know if they ever made any custom traps with teeth?

I picked up one this weekend, and the welding of the teeth on to the cast jaws was really done well....top notch job, and I guess welding onto cast is not the easiest thing to do.

The teeth look like the tips of nails cut off, which as you know, they'd have a million of them due to their swivels being made of nails....

I am fairly certain they never made a production trap with teeth, but thought MAYBE they did some custom jobs for special orders....

The job just looks like something Glenn or Glenn Jr would have done.....but there's lots of talented guys out there, so who knows?

Hoping some of your real collectors have seen similar or know something I don't....

Regardless, it had a $30 tag on it...not sure you can buy a new one for that! So, I own it.....

Fuller Laugaman had Sterlings with teeth welded on many years ago.

Andy, do you know if he had Sterling do it OR did he do it himself after he procured the traps from them?

I was looking at that trap again today in the shop.....just done so well, it seems like a mod the Sterlings did themselves.....

I didn't see them untill after Fuller died and can't answer that. All of his traps went up for sale and practically all of them had teeth. From 330's to #1 1/2 longs and everything in between. No doubt the sterling's and 330's were used for wolverine.Asking Glen would be the only answer.

I normally set these with my hands very comfortably......but I must confess, I used my feet on this version! The teeth would not allow me to push and hold down the jaws where I normally do with a smooth-jawed version.....scary!

Update: just found our from Sr. that he made that trap....sent him the pics through a friend and said he made 18-20 of those for a guy as a special order for beaver trapping.

He made them during the same time he made the Wyoming XX's for O'G which was a similar jaw with nail-tipped teeth.....

Pretty cool find.......

Man I'm jealous Zagger. You always find cool traps. The pans on those look way different then I ever seen. Cool find.

I've missed FAR more finds than I've, well, found.....

I have stamps pans (not deep, no one will accuse them of OVER-stamping them) and these stenciled pans.....
