How common is it for bats to use Cobra ridge vents as access points? It seems like they might be able to get under the edges easily depending on how the shingle layers happen fall.

Plastic Ridge vents are used by bats frequently in our business experience. The irregularity of attachment and releasing of nails no end caps etc., create opportunity then frequency of use.

Definitely the end caps open is common and as roof flexes nails come loose on em and create gaps

Cobra vent material ridge vents are the least likely style for bat entry. I have never seen bats get "under" cobra vent material. I do, however, find them frequently using the plastic type ridge vents that the roofers only attach with about every 3rd nail hole. They warp within a year or so, and the bats squeeze between the vent and shingles. Also common to see bats using the ends of the aluminum ridge vents AFTER a squirrel or raccoon tears open the rubber end caps.

Probably some confusion in terminologies... because Cobra makes the good and bad styles of ridge vent as far as bats are concerned. What you don't want is the hard plastic, comes in four foot lengths ridge vent. What you do want is the 20 foot long fibrous roll.

Good call, bjansma. I was referring to the plastic ones, not the fibrous role. Thanks for the replies everyone.

With any ridge vent applied over a ridge with architectural shingles can let bats in on the low shingle over the entire lenght of the cap, we strip the ridge vent and apply 1/4X1/4 hardware cloth then cobra vent and a new cap. DONE

Some will wait for what they want, But this is much more slicker, WORK REAL HARD for what you want, and you will get it much more QUICKER ...
