Wow, we have the same thing with bats in the Swedish Cope log home Judy and I built. The bats nest in the barn early in the year but this time of year they roost in the peak at both ends of the house and crap all over the side of the house, a mess. Our home is about 33 feet high. Will have to put the tractor up close to the house and put the ladder in the bucket to reach it as my ladder is but 24 feet. Looks like a great solution above. Had been wondering what I was going to do about it. Thanks for he ideas. Tiresome cleaning up every fall. Will have to do all logs on the overhang.

We just finished a log cabin bat removal project where we ran into a similar situation. Pics and details on our latest blog https://barneswildlifecontrol.com/log-cabin-bat-removal/ This approach was very effective and the customer loved the way it turned out.

Yikes! All of this is why I don’t do bat work. Thank you for all of the info and photos.

A pellet gun sure would be fun, but not the best advice to a customer.

Willy, Bats can be profitable but if you don't know what you're doing or lack the attention to detail, you will be going back many times over as they can be pesky and stubborn much like flying squirrels.

I understand that bats can be very profitable. I will leave that profit for you and other bat experts. I know when not to get involved in something. I appreciate your knowledge and understanding. But there is nothing about the bat business that appeals to me. We have some spruce trees that house quite a few bats. It is fun watching them come out and start working.

Much rather deal with flyers, Bats are a pain in the butt.

Jim - you know not to do that trick with the loader and the ladder! Please don’t really do it. I fell from a ladder and that hurt plenty without landing on a loader arm or other hardware. You and I are the same age and we don’t bounce when we hit the ground.
