I've caught 12 skunks at a resort...five adult females and seven YOYs (mix of M and F). Where are all the males? I understand that they are not wandering around in pairs this time of year, but it seems there would be some yearling or adult males somewhere.

Male resort maybe, like hunting camp.

The ones around the young have been killed off. I removed a body from just outside a den a couple weeks ago. I suspect it was a male.

My guess is like my area, the females will have areas for the family groups where they have food and shelter close. The males, they have a bigger area and not looking for the same thing as the females with young are. I think if the food is there and you leave traps out you will pick up males at some point.

Another YOY today. Several cages missing their lead in Cheetos too... I guess a few skunks or coons are nervous to enter the cages.

turn the traps 180 place one Cheetos where it was, only now it will be outside the back of trap. place one just inside the opening which is where the back of the trap was, and bait like you did. see if this helps on a few of them.

Thanks Jonesie, but didn't get to try it. This job is far away and I never caught another one and the resort owner was anxious to be done. His guests have not seen any more and he was satisfied that it is over, or at least they have been reduced to a tolerable level. I picked up the traps today - all of which had been tampered with by the new set of guests for this week (which may also be why he wants to be done). I will keep that trick in mind for next time though.
