I am looking for information on Knap brand traps. Specifically # 1 single longs.

Andreski & Parr list Knap traps as being "imported limited edition". They list coil springs in sizes 1, 1 1/2, 2. 3, 4. And that is all - nothing about long spring traps in this brand.

I have 2 # 1 single longs marked Knap. Made in Taiwan. With the numeral 1 in the center of the pan.

Trap has a round, bolted pan. 8 inch machine chain with a ring on the end. The metal appears to be a bit heavier than you see in a Victor trap. Sorry, no pictures.

Any information will be appreciated.

Note - the traps are not for sale. Please don't ask. smile

Thanks.

The Pioneer # 1 single longs that I have are ones with a humped cross piece and clamp type pan (like a Victor).

The Knaps have a flat cross piece with a pan that is bolted on.

I also have a brand new #2 DBL LS. It actually looks to be a well made trap but as you said, the book only mentions coils. I am certain that this one is all original and unaltered.

I have nothing clever to put here.
