Got a call for a "boat load" of water snakes hanging out around a dock

Any suggestions on how to catch them would be greatly appreciated

Just grab them and put them in a pillowcase

Lol

They can be slippery to catch by hand when they know you are onto them. Can you shoot there? I'd imagine a .410 would be perfect water snake medicine.

Used to get them in minnow traps a lot when the traps were wet in the shallows too.

x2 or use tongs if need be

Altho sticky snake traps work 24/7 if some get away when you are "grabbing and bagging".

You can make your own with lengths of downspout material with Cahaba snake trap sticky pads cut down.

ID the snakes, if non-venomous (95% chance) do nothing. If a lake, there will be no end to removing snakes. Educate the property owner. Eliminate the fear and suddenly the snakes are not a problem.

So much for the boat load of black water snakes

Caught 12 garter and ribbon snakes so far, seen one large copper belly (protected here) and one common water snake

Did design "snake trap" Installed it today, if it works I will show it. If it doesn't work. Then I won't use it again lol

Cotton mouths? Don't let it bite you. laugh
I just put in a snake box and let go at a location where I don't think they will bother anyone else.

No A common northern water snake. Look like cottonmouth don't they? Lot of people up here call them water moccasins

And even cotton mouths. But we don't have them here, if we did I would not trap anywhere near water when it's warm

These are just big mean and ugly But customers are really afraid of them so $$. And they hang with the garter and ribbon snakes under boat and other stuff so it makes in even creepier for the customer
