I am doing an ADC job for a lady that has a weasel in her garage. I think this weasel has 9 lives. I set 2 weasel boxes with rat traps and chicken liver for bait. I got a trap full of white fur. Then I caught some mice in the traps, and he stole them from me. I then used the gallon jug trick I saw on here, with the suspended bait, and a 1 1/2 Victor with a hair trigger. He got my bait that time, and never set the trap off. Yesterday I found where he enters the garage, and blind set that with a rat trap, today I had another trap full of white guard hair, and no weasel. The good thing I am finding out about this weasel is he's fearless, and not afraid of anything, hopefully I can catch him before I have to call in a professional.

Albert, Maybe you have a weak rat trap, a VERY large weasel, or both! I would suggest taking small flat chunk of wood about the thickness of a pencil and putting it under the springs on the trat trap to beef it up a little. Otherwise take and put some fresh meat wired right to the pan of a 1 1/2 in his path of travel.
Warcraft, Yes a 1 1/2 on a hair trigger will work for weasels, I would suggest putting it in a milk jug or box. Make sure it is not only a hair trigger but a light trigger. This can aided by bending the trap dog downward in teh middle, it will let the trap set off easier. Happy trapping. ScottW

What do you guys get for weasels? Do you sell them on the taxi market? I've only caught one in my life and that was just by accident in a baited coon set yrs ago.

The Victor rat traps are new and strong. I think I have a very large Weasel, judging by the tracks in the snow today. I would have swore they were made by a good size mink, except the homeowner has seen it and described it. I may change over to a couple of Victor 1 1/2 Longsprings with very light pan tension and blind set where he is entering the garage, or inside the garage use one with the bait on the pan like you suggest. If this was a $5.00 weasel I would have had him already, but this guy has a pretty good bounty on his head. Thank you for the tips, Albert

How long does it take for weasels to move bvack into an area after it is trapped? I am thinking about setting back into some of the places where I had good luck before.

Why am I catching almost half of my weasels coming out of the box? I can'r see how they get in without getting caught. what could I do with trap placement etc?

The anise you can buy in the grocery store isn't the good stuff, it's mostly made of alcohol and has very little anise. one of the better anise is I believe "china Star". Others might have a better idea of where to get good anise.

I'm using 1 1/2 longsprings with the spring closer to the hole so they don't jump over the pan. I ran out of weasel lure so used mink gland lure and it worked just as good. For the weasel in the garage I would leave him alone. He's probably there because there's mice there. when he cleans out the mice he will leave on his own. Had a weasel move into my house two different winters when Ihad a mouse problem. Best mouser I ever had.
