Have you had any large nests yet? This cold weather has kept the season off us! I hope it starts up soon!

We don't start getting yellow jacket or bald face hornet nests of any size until August in our area. Way too early yet here, I would imagine you are about in the same time frame in your area.

I have seen only a few yellow jackets so far this year. I usually find a ground nest or two while mowing my grass each year. I do have one nest of “pet” paper wasps already. I like to keep a couple of nests around the eaves of the house. They are good pollinators and eat a lot of garden pests.

Yeah, I guess I'm a bit early expecting nests. I figured we'd see lots of them this year with the mild winter.
