Looking for help with removing bats from inside a school. It is a large school and we haven't been able to locate any entry holes. The possibilities of where they could be entering is endless, and the ceilings are anywhere from 15 to 50 feet tall. They are flying around in the hall ways at night setting off the security system. Any ides on how to remove them?

Start on one end and start sealing holes. If you don't seal all the holes, they will start using a new hole. If you got locked out of your house, you'd check every window and door to see if it's open. They will too.

There's only one proper way to solve a bat problem. Identify primary entry points, seal the rest of structure (every gap over 1/4" from foundation to highest ridge peak), install one-way excluder devices at access points (allows bats to exit, prevents re-entry). After a week or two, remove excluders and seal final holes where they were mounted. Miss a single gap anywhere and the program will fail. BTW.... can't evict bats right now, it's birthing season. Blackout period runs from mid-May through the end of July. Preliminary sealing could be done during June and July, leaving main access points open so mothers can nurse their young. Once all the young are able to fly (Aug 1st is usually safe) install excluders and evict entire colony. Possible guano clean-out as follow-up if requested.

The first issue is to determine if a problem even exists and if so, how bad of a problem is it. In other words, are you dealing with a single bat or is there a colony? There are 5 different types of bat roost sites, which one does the school have? How does the school know it is a bat or multiple bats that keep triggering the alarm? When is the last time it happened? What is the school doing that may help or hamper your work?

You need to start with these and similar questions so you know what the actual problem is versus trying to solve a problem that may not even exist.

For instance, if you found medium to large amounts of guano and can't find any entrance locations, then a bat watch needs to be done so you can find the locations. However, if the problem is one or two bats got inside the school through open windows or gymnasium doors and it was two months ago most likely this is going to be a waste of your time.

Don't think that just because the school mentioned bats that they have a bat problem that it actually means they have a bat problem. Do your inspection and ask diagnostic questions to determine what is going on. Only then can you develop an appropriate plan to resolve the problem.

There is indeed bats. Have found some droppings here and there. They have had a history of them and have removed some over the years. Lately the have been setting off the security alarms, a bat watch is probably have to happen. Thanks for all the advice.
