Does anyone ever set traps right under a mole mound? Got some awful big ones and can not fine the run.

If the mounds are relatively fresh or recently created and still being pushed up you can catch pretty quickly at these locations. At times I have cleaned the mound away down to the grass level and probed to find the hole and clean it out.

Once you find the direction of the tunnel you can set it. Many times the air flow and light entering the run will be plugged by the mole with dirt if it is still frequenting that tunnel area. I use primarily Albano type mole traps for basically all mole work now. They work well in this set up.

At a lot of the new residences when fill has been placed then black dirt as been added it is very difficult to feel the runs. I use a screw driver that has been cut off blunt and welded a collar on the tip so the rest of the shaft does not drag when probing. Some of the mounds are as large in circumference as a 5 gal. bucket. I just made a much longer probe just for these type of mounds. They are deep.

Use a T-bar to find the voids...easiest way that I have found to find them.
