Guys. I need an idea as to what to charge for this. I really do not want to do it. I want my price to be higher than competitors

I want the opportunity to quote her mother in laws house so may just say it's to big for me to tie up my time on

Say $70 per hour. What would you charge per sq foot. If you want to pm me so your price isn't out there for everyone to see that a fine

Physically I don't want to do this. It's just to much ladder work
Thx

How is the structure? In terms of gaps. Between every board, just some areas, ridge, doors?

I'm picturing most barns of that age I've ever walked in and a few years in now I'd be hard pressed to be wanting to say I could keep them out in most of those Bldg types. (Barns that is)

Not that you can't try, beware the warranty and client expectations....

I wouldn't bid a job for a building like that. Seen far too many in my days that would be just too labor intensive and costly to give a guarantee. If roosting is the issue, I would net the interior gable bottom all the way across if there isn't needed access for hay stacking etc.

Then you would only need to worry about the sealing of the upper exterior gable boards and exclusion areas. The lower level below the netting above the sliding doors and the gaps between the boards on the lower level barn walls will require a lot of work to seal and yet still allow the barn to breathe.

The bats would then be limited to the lower level of the barn. In many cases being excluded from the apex of the barn many colonies will leave after a few days. Their persistence to stay in the lower level area will be directly related to any tight or available harborage areas left in the lower level of the barn below the net installation.

If I had to do it, I'd be thinking foam and a lift.

Walk away. Actually.... run. I've done 300,000 square-foot structures for bats, but that barn is not worth the cost of bat-proofing. Properly.

You've already stated you don't want to do it. Listen to your gut. I agree, run, and don't look back. There are plenty more doable buildings to work on. Some buildings are just not excludeable.

Put the right number together to do it right, and let the owner make the decision.
