most of the zero sized traps are out of my price range. guess lots of people collect 0's. I was afraid that would be the case. First, the big Bear traps were too expensive to collect, and now, the tiny #0's might also be too expensive! Maybe I should go with collecting #2's?

[quote=wissmiss]
# 0 are nice to collect. They are small and don't take up much space.
Exactly why I want to pursue them.
Some of the 0s I have
B&L single long B&L jump
Victor jump - several different models Victor single long
The Victor single long
King Bee by Gibbs Kangaroo by Triumph
Triumph single long Sargent single long with cast pan - picked up 2 at the same time. They look like identical twins
Probably some others I can't think of.
That's quite a list you've got there, Wissmiss. Which one, in the list, is your favorite?
The little #0 coils are so cute!!
!! A #0 coil had come to mind, but I thought that, surely, there was never a #0 coil spring trap made. For once I'm glad that I was wrong. Thanks, Wissmiss!

I have a #0 Newhouse a friend gave me, I keep it next to a #5 for comparison. Neat little trap and worth far more than I would have imagined.

I have a #0 that appears to be Mexican or Central American that is very cool. The writing on it isn't English but is well made.

That looks like an excellent start. Keep at it and you will be surprised how your collection grows.
Look in second hand stores, antique malls, gun shows - basically any place you go. Many times traps will be over priced and you will pass on them but there are bargains to be found if you keep looking.
Have fun. Thanks, Wissmiss. I appreciate all of your helpful suggestions. Happy Hunting - Bill

imissed, nice trap. and you ain't kidding about the deep pockets thing. I think mine are sewed shut at the top lol! but as Bruce says, it is a disease, and once I started I can't stop. Longbow, your 100% right!! I've got out of antique traps after a few $1000's spent!! Now I can't stop buying user traps of all kinds! Brad

That one looks like a slick pan PS & W Dale, so that one didn't come with writing anyways and it looks like a nice complete trap with a nice cast 8 chain. I had posted a pic of this zero on this site before Kevin, so I had a pretty good idea what it was. Just trying to add a little humor after looking at some of the dandys already pictured....

I have an old triumph #0 L.S. with the T cut in the pan complete and in decent condition that I like. Any value to it? No, but I will pay shipping to send it to me. Really, depending on condition as always, you are probably looking at hundreds of $.

I also have a #1.5 with the T cut in the pan but it is only in Fair shape. I will try to get a picture of them both together so you can see them. This area of Nebraska is a very poor area to try to collect traps as we have a history of poor fur #'s, medium quality and sporatic havesting methods compared to SD, ND, MN, IA. And hence not many traps or any odd ones. I do have a bunch of double jaws (V LS and On jumps 91's, 91 1/2's, LS 21's 21 1/2's 22's etc, few Newhouse 81-91's, some Triple Clutches, Diamond 21's 21 1/2's 31's etc.). They must have been from when the skunk furs were in demand around here. Don't know what box of stuff I got these Triumphs in or I'm embarrassed to say,,, how long I have had them (5-10 yrs.). I am cleaning up the corner of the basement where I have stashed these odd traps through the years and resurrected these from the Triumph pile. Anyway I have some ON 0 jumps and B&L 0 jumps (cast jaw) that I also like. P.S. I have some several V 11's (I think) with a solid (not wire) butterfly dog that connects to the pan notch from the main frame opposite side of the long spring (no cross frame). Is that the OLD Original Vic. 11 I read about occasionally? Thanks for your info.

Seen many Diamond Brand. Never seen a #0. Keeper IMO I agree. A # 0 Diamond single long is not even listed in Andreski & Parr's first book.

So what would a Victor #0 jump trap be worth? Would it be a place to start collecting? Value will depend on condition and where it was made. A # 0 Oneida jump made by Animal Trap Company would be a perfect place to start a collection. You should be able to get one in very good/almost new condition for $10.00 or less. Not a super valuable trap but start small and work your way up to the more expensive traps - # 0 Sargent with cast pan or # 0 Arrow with clear stamping. Enjoy your new hobby/addiction.

Your unknown under spring with the 2 hole pan is a Blake & Lamb. that is what I suspected...although it has different rivets and post than the b&l but spring looks the same
