Hopefully you can make sense of this diagram. If not speak up and Ill try my best to clarify. You really need a 6" or better vise for using it with 1/8th inch flatstrap. If your doing 3/16th you need a bruiser 10" vise or there abouts. It does work though ;\)

Mine is very similar. I put dowel pins in it to keep the top and bottom halves oriented correctly and have 1/8" key stock welded to hold the baseplate material square. A hydraulic press is much easier and faster to use than a vise for this.--JT

Here a pix of my Base Bender.

The jaws of the bench vise are removed and the ends of the jig are bolted in their place. The piece to be bent is placed between the stationary pieces and the vise is clamped down tight. It's done!


The whole thing was made out of "junque" that was laying around the shop.
