Throw Back, every time I fall I look more uncoordinated than the last time. But my landings are a thing of beauty. ( Wow, there's

something else to be thankful for )

First - don't take fall advice from wink! Lol!

From there depends on what you want and are looking for...

There are paid trainings for a variety of work at height type jobs.

There are many catalogs that sell hear some of which is the same
Vinke referred to in terms of ascenders, descenders, ropes, harnesses, etc...

This is a topic that you'll see vary widely based on the needs of the operator,
Type of roofs or heights, whether they want to do it safely or whether they take the
"I haven't fallen yet" approach...

Much of the work at height training is for tower climbers and other industrial applications but there are many that also
offer general contractor type safety classes and even certifications.

If you need or want to simply know how to best rig your safety line from Home Depot in a 1 or 2 story roof, going to a more
Wide reaching training for industrial application may be unneccesary or cost prohibitive.

I'm pursuing some serious training to utilize in specialty realms but also procuring more and more gear for my arsenal.

In terms of safety heights is a big one and you don't have to be that "high" to get yourself injured badly.

What are you going for in terms of your needs? Bat work? Other?

Justin we sure are lucky Vinke cant type in a readable fashion or we would be in trouble! Haha.

I will look into the black diamond gear vinke.

As far as what I need it basic. Just proper harness safety for working on steep pitch roofs to acsess dormers and high peaks on steep roofs

according to this, fall prevention training is now mandatory in California for employees working over 8 feet.

Why is this Required? Fall Protection is the #1 OSHA violation. Over 10,000 people are killed every year as a result of falls… and 200,000 to 300,000 people are disabled. 85% of all falls that occur on the job result in “lost work time”.

Many have stories about injuries and people dying, definitely no joke and too easy too fall for sure.

Harness wise I have a petzl bod full body, love it, very secure, though also comes down to anchors and the whole system.

Google fall protection, several companies have free catalogs with serious gear for every scenario.

I read a bunch of the OSHA files from falls and injuries and deaths a year or so ago and man, that sure shows you that it isn't just folks up high on steep pitches that have falls.

Definitely worth training on and doing right.

I'm not sure fall protection should be required but winter protection should be mandatory. Why do you think Vinke moves to Arizona

every Thanksgiving?

I ordered the OSHA training thing. $175 bucks. We will see if its worth it. I think ladder training is a must.
