OK the "other post" went missing(probably deleted due to hunt101 changing) so HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!! I am going to show you how to CHEEPELY and quickly make the STRONGEST J HOOKS around..and also how to make the Sterling type swivels...
TOOLS: for the majority of the work you need a good nut driver..most have hollow shanks, make SURE you get one with a DEEP hollow shank as in the last picture.

SHALLOW

DEEP

For the JIG all you need is two STEEL rods welded to a solid base, (I prefer 1/2" rods) be it a table or anvil or vice. FIRST pic is of my baseplate press AKA trap tag stamper AKA nail swivel maker, 2nd picture is of a welding table mounted setup.

IN PICTURE 2 we start out by bending the nail as seen in the picture USING the nutdriver with the nail inserted deeply.(WHEN bending make sure the ribbing on the nail is 90% OFF of the bend due to possible fracturing hence bend left to right ribs top/bottom THANKS Bill)http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/5672nail_bender_2.jpg" alt="" />
NEXT rotating the nail 180 degrees start your bend.

Bend finished..

NEXT bend another nail as seen..

Cut off the ends and you have these 3 components(forgot the nuts lol)

Assemble and THERE ya go!!

THANK YOU Joel Blakslee for the ORIGINAL pictorial a few years ago.. AND thanks to WILD Bill Illick for the design.. LYNX...the "helpful" one..

Nice, but why not just buy a B-2 bender? I make all kinds of stuff with it. You can even add j-hooks on victor chains that way, but standard j-hooks do not fit victor swivels.

Very nice lynxy, but I have a Q. On the swivel, do you weld the U shaped nail to the nut?
