I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on a #3 dbls that I picked up the other day. All it says on the pan is
Hawley norton
3
Oneida community ont.
Was interested in what year it would be made, how common? The trap itself has weaker springs but is complete.

The Hawley & Norton trap was made to have a lighter less expensive alterative to the Newhouse trap. Oneidas Community had a factory in Ontario, Canada to avoid paying taxes on traps exported to Canada. Your trap, with that stamp has a riveted pan rather than a cast pan, putting it in the early 1900's. In 1913 a law was passed that items had to have the country or origin on them and "made in Canada was then put on the pan. So, your trap was made before 1913.

It's probably closer to the $15 mark I'd say but it's cool. Thanks!
