Cedar shakes are usually crawling with insects and their larvae. I have always found it to be a territorial thing,,,,not bugs...........

Miley prior to your confirmation post saing you killed it, you still had deniability.
Now you've affirmed a violation of MBTA and dragged Paul in as your accomplice.
I'm amazed how comfy folks get with the internet feeling like a safe place to say such things.
To each his own I guess, you certainly aren't the only one killing something that is federally protected, just the first I believe who exclaimed it right here, but maybe I just haven't paid attention.
As I tell my teenage niece there is no such thing as delete on the Internet, it's all there somewhere......

What will keep them from putting holes in siding? No bug infestation. Well, you're dealing with an animal that has a 'bird brain'...(excuse the pun) Woopeckers peck for 3 reasons. Hole/nesting Announcing dominance /territory (spring) Food/insects. So... Give it something it wants ! And that is a peanut flavored suet cake and even shell peanuts in a feeder as close to the damage as possible ! I use a 6-8 foot tall 'shepherd's hook' and a feeder. The bird will go to the food source and leave the house alone. Sounds too simple..reread the first line! LT

LT, how much do we charge to set this all up and feed the woodpecker? How long do we feed it and every other bird in the area? Does
this feeder then become the property of the customer? I for one think this is a great idea. We will turn our woodpecker customers
into skunk, opossum, raccoon, rabbit, squirrel, and chipmunk customers. ( And I won't have to go to jail for being an accomplice )
